I began my career in dentistry when I qualified from the highly prestigious Karolinska Institute 1996.

I then gained a vast amount of experience during the 10 years in general dentistry as an associate in Stevenage and as a principal in Camden Town.

Since starting here at Markham Associates in December 2006, I have enjoyed seeing many of the patients here. I’m looking forward to meeting more of you in the future.

I perform all aspects of emergency, general and cosmetic dentistry, including teeth whitening and dental implants and am proud to have helped improve the smiles for hundreds of patients in and around Reading and Berkshire.

Graduated in Dentistry at Catholic University of Rome (Italy) in 1993. MClinDent in Oral Surgery in 1997 at “La Sapienza” University of Rome (Italy). MSc in Implant Dentistry in 2003 at “La Sapienza” University of Rome (Italy). PhD in Dentistry in 2008 at “Tor Vergata” University of Rome (Italy). MClinDent in Periodontology (on behalf of SIdP-Italian Society of Periodontology and Implant Dentistry) at University of Siena (Italy) in 2012.

Teaching experience in Periodontology and Oral and Periodontal Pathology (Undergraduate and Postgraduate) in different Italian Universities. Past Clinical Teaching Fellow at MSc in Periodontology, University La Sapienza of Rome – for Modular Courses in Muco-Gingival Surgery and Perio Literature. Research focused on Perio Wound Healing. Systematic Reviewer on the Comparison of different Perio Surgical techniques.

“Agostino Gemelli” Award for Best Research in Oral Pathology.

I qualified as a dental surgeon in 1987, following which I completed my postgraduate training in Oral Surgery, four years later. Thereafter, I embarked on a career in teaching to extend my academic experience.

I have held training posts in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at several hospitals across the country during which I was awarded a Fellowship by the Royal College of Surgeons of England.

Subsequent to my accreditation as a Specialist in 2005 ,I have been providing a full range of service in Oral Surgery in the secondary care in Berkshire, supervising foundation dental and medical trainees.

Alongside my clinical work, I examine for both the Royal College of Surgeons of England and Edinburgh and run hands-on courses for newly qualified dentists. More recently, I have successfully completed a four year part time Diploma in Implant Dentistry at Eastman Dental Institute in 2013.

With my varied experience, I have been active in all aspects of Oral Surgery. Quality assurance and patient safety are central to my role as a clinician, and I aim to deliver optimum patient care, maintaining the highest standards of clinical practice.

In my spare time, I like pursuing my fitness goals and travelling, in order to experience fascinating places and different cultures. I also have a keen interest in music and listen to a wide genre of music.

I undertake all aspects of oral surgery including:
Complex dental extractions including surgical removal of buried teeth and roots;
Surgical removal of wisdom teeth;
Surgical management of jaw cysts;
Apicoectomies;
Pre-prosthetic surgery;
Pre-orthodontic surgery including exposure of buried teeth and bonding of gold chains;
Paediatric oral surgery;
Frenectomies including release of tongue tie in adults and children;
Surgical management of oral lumps and bumps;
Management of red and white patches and oral ulcers;
Management of facial/jaw pain;
Management of oral Infection;
Dental implant therapy including both surgical and prosthetic aspects;
Management of dental phobics with or without intravenous sedation;

I’m a 2016 graduate of Rajiv Gandhi University of health sciences, Bengaluru in Bachelor of Dental Surgery currently registered with GDC as Dental hygienist and therapist, I’m excited to meet all my incoming patients! Outside of office hours I love spending time with animals. I’m ecstatic to be part of the team and cannot wait to meet you all.

Julie qualified as a medical nurse and then went on to study Dental Hygiene in University college Cork, Ireland, qualifying with honours. With over 20 years of experience, Julie is passionate about oral hygiene and provides preventative dental care to the highest level. Her enthusiasm for dentistry and her gentle approach helps put her patients at ease. She provides the tools and treatments to those keen to improve and maintain a high level of oral hygiene.

Julie plays an important role among the team in preventing dental problem. She performs procedures including professional cleaning such as scaling and polishing, and treatments for periodontal disease (gum disease), oral hygiene instructions, and specialised care for those undergoing orthodontic treatment and implants.
Out of work she enjoys getting out for walks and Irish dancing.
