Dr. Ali Kamran
Principal Dentist

Dr. Ali Kamran graduated from the prestigious Karolinska Institute, Sweden, in 1996 and gained extensive experience in general dentistry during 10 years as an associate in Stevenage and principal in Camden Town. Since joining Markham Associates in 2006, he has provided expert care to hundreds of patients across Reading and Berkshire.
Dr. Kamran performs all aspects of general, emergency, and cosmetic dentistry, including teeth whitening and dental implants, helping patients achieve healthier smiles and improved confidence. He looks forward to welcoming new patients to the practice.
Dr. Manas Mishra
Specialist in Oral Surgery

Dr. Manas Mishra qualified as a dental surgeon in 1987 and completed his postgraduate training in oral surgery in 1991. He has held training posts in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at several hospitals and was awarded a Fellowship by the Royal College of Surgeons of England. Accredited as a Specialist in Oral Surgery since 2005, Dr. Mishra has provided comprehensive oral surgery services in Berkshire and supervised dental and medical trainees.
Dr. Mishra also examines for the Royal College of Surgeons of England and Edinburgh and runs hands-on courses for newly qualified dentists. He earned a Diploma in Implant Dentistry from the Eastman Dental Institute in 2013 and specialises in all aspects of oral surgery, including complex dental extractions, wisdom tooth removal, jaw cyst management, tongue-tie releases, paediatric oral surgery, and dental implants.

With 14 years of dedicated service, Maria Crowley is the warm and friendly face that greets you as you walk through our doors. As the main receptionist, Maria brings a calm, welcoming presence to the practice and ensures every patient feels comfortable from the moment they arrive. Her deep knowledge of the clinic’s operations and her personable nature make her an invaluable part of our team—and a familiar favourite among long-time patients.

Julie Ryan
Dental Hygienist

Julie Ryan brings over 20 years of experience and a strong passion for oral hygiene to Markham Associates. After qualifying as a medical nurse, she earned an honours degree in Dental Hygiene from University College Cork, Ireland. Julie is dedicated to providing high-level preventative dental care and is known for her gentle, reassuring approach that helps patients feel at ease.
Julie plays a vital role in preventing dental problems through professional cleanings, including scaling and polishing, and treating gum disease (periodontal disease). She also offers oral hygiene education and specialised care for patients with braces or dental implants, ensuring they maintain excellent oral health.
Nadha Shakir

Nadha is one of the newest additions to our dental team, working as a skilled dental hygienist. Ms Shamna Vaniyanveettil
Periodontist

Dr Shamna Vaniyanveettil is a GDC-registered dentist with a special interest in periodontics and over eight years of clinical experience in the UK and internationally. She holds a BDS and MDS in Periodontology from India and has further advanced her training in the UK with the Licentiate in Dental Surgery from the Royal College of Surgeons of England and Membership in Periodontics (MPerio) from the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh.
Her expertise includes the non-surgical and surgical management of gum disease, regenerative procedures, peri-implant disease management, and laser-assisted gum treatments such as crown lengthening and depigmentation. She is committed to preventive, minimally invasive care and is known for her gentle approach, precision, and focus on patient education.
Dr Marina Spanaki
Endodontist

Marina completed her MSc in Endodontics at Guys Hospital, London in 2003. Since then her practice has focused purely in Endodontics and Marina is considered one of the best in Berkshire. Endodontics is the field of dentistry dedicated to root canal therapy.
Marina is able to tackle the most complex root canal cases with skill and care using all the latest technologies including the use of a dental microscope. Root canal therapy considered simpler, can also be referred to her if a patient want the highest possible success rate due to the time, materials and skill Marina will offer.
